Research partners

This pioneering research initiative is being led by the Food Innovation team at the Queensland Department of Primary Industries (QDPI), in partnership with the UTSCybeR team at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

Through collaboration with state fisheries regulators, Fisheries Queensland (FQ), selected traceability-relevant data is being shared to the CrabTrace platform from FQ’s existing eFisher app, FishNet and other mandatory reporting systems, with consent from participating mud crabbers.

Industry engagement

The research is primarily being advanced with Queensland-based commercial fishers as use-case participants. However, to ensure broader applicability, supply chain intermediaries and sellers from Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria are also engaged, including Sydney Fish Market (SFM) as a key project partner.

ARDC co-investment

The project received co-investment (doi.org/10.47486/DC108) from the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC). The ARDC is enabled by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).
